Project on “Encouraging Marginalized Voices in the Lebanese Political Process” (October 2017 – September 2019)
ACRLI is implementing Encouraging Marginalized Voices in the Lebanese Political Process, which is supported by a grant from the United States Department of State. The project aims to enhance the capacity of gender-focused CSOs to act on behalf of and represent women’s interests to local and national government.

The project will also focus on advocacy and provide CSOs with the tools to identify and influence the laws and practices that hinder women’s political participation. This project will create mechanisms for citizen government communication through development of community-based scorecards and support gender-focused CSOs to advocate for key issues they identify and prioritize.

ACRLI will seek to accomplish this goal through developing strategies that bolster the influence and ability of gender-focused civil society organizations to engage elected municipal and parliamentary leaders on issues affecting their communities. Activities will focus on educating and enhancing women’s networks and/or civil society organizations that are committed to drafting legislation and engaging their leaders/representatives to implement reforms.

Specifically, the project will target: women’s political participation including constituency building, citizen-government communications, and increased government accountability; through community scorecards and participatory budget monitoring.
