As part of the “Support to Initiatives for Community Engagement in Culture, Social Cohesion, and Democratic Participation” programme, ACRLI is implementing the "Inclusive Democratic Participation" project in Lebanon, in partnership with the European Center for Electoral Support (ECES) and with the support of the European Union. Over a 24-month period, the initiative aims to empower civil society organizations (CSOs) to promote democratic education, improve electoral processes, advocate for legislative reforms, and enhance oversight mechanisms to ensure transparency and accountability. By fostering inclusive participation and strengthening democratic institutions, the project seeks to promote social cohesion and reinforce democratic governance in local communities.
The project’s objectives are:
- Objective 1: Improve the transparency, fairness, and integrity of Lebanon’s electoral process through legal reforms and stronger oversight mechanisms.
- Objective 2: Strengthen the capacity of electoral stakeholders to support and sustain democratic principles and practices.
- Objective 3: Foster active and inclusive participation by increasing voter engagement through targeted campaigns and educational programs.
